Jalandhar, September 9, 2013: The music album of the upcoming Punjabi Film “Aashqui Not Allowed” was released at LPU Jalandhar in the presence of the entire star cast.
Among others who were present included, Aman Sutdhar, Gurpreet Kaur, and Jaswant Singh, etc. The visiting artists were greeted by a cheering crowd of young students of the University, pointing to the increasing popularity of Punjabi entertainment industry, which cuts across regional and cultural demarcations. Popular Punjabi Singer Master Saleem along with the fellow artists, mingled freely with the students as student fans jostled with each other to catch a glimpse of the legendry artist.
Dr. Ramesh Kanwar, Vice Chancellor LPU, said, “LPU through such programs aspires to uphold the cultural heritage of the land. Ours is a technology driven University, but at the same time we are conscious about the need to connect with the richness of indigenous culture and tradition; and hence the organising of diverse and multitude of such programmes.”
Addressing the students Master Saleem said it was an exhilarating experience to perform before such a large young crowd, which represented all the regions not only of India, but internationally as well. He said, “LPU is a perfect podium to showcase the wealth of Punjabi music and other arts from the state, to those coming from other cultures. With students from all parts of the country, and from foreign countries as well; LPU was my first choice to launch the music of the movie. I thank the entire student fraternity of LPU for showering me with so much love and affection.”
