Jalandharites cut cake to celebrate 206th birth anniversary of Louis Braille


The 206th birth anniversary of Louis Braille being celebrated by member of Louis Braille Welfare Club at Jalandhar on Sunday.

Jalandhar, January 4, 2015: The 206th birth anniversary of Louis Braille was celebrated by member of Louis Braille Welfare Club here today. The event was held in the premises of Babu Labh Singh Trust.
A cake was cut on the occasion. Among others, BJYM District General Secretary Ashok Sareen, Ward President Pardeep Singh Johal, Vikram Dutta and Rajinder Ghai were present.
All those gathered on the occasion, recalled about life and achievements of the great personality Louis Braille Louis Braille who was not blind at the time of his birth. In-fact, when Braille was three years old, he became blind accidentally while he was trying to make holes in a piece of leather with an awl. He lost his one eye when the awl struck him. He lost his second eye too after it got infected. As such, he got total blind. But, he did not lose his courage and finally became a French educator. He was the one who invented a system of reading and writing for use by the blind or visually impaired. The system invented by Braille is known and called as Braille globally. As such he rendered a great service worldwide.
