Jalandhar/Punjab News- Congress dares Sukhbir to open public debate on issue of criminals in politics

Jalandhar, September 28, 2013: Sukhpal Singh Khaira, Official Spokesperson, PPCC and ex-MLA, has said Sukhbir Badal, President, SAD, had vehemently attacked the Congress party for bringing an ordinance to shield and protect criminals in politics, just a couple of days back.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, he added Congress welcomes the indulgence of the SAD President on a vital issue like criminalisation of politics now brought on national agenda by Rahul Gandhi with his bold initiative of trashing the ordinance. But a close perusal of facts as to who is shielding and promoting criminals in politics, would clearly expose the double standards of Sukhbir Singh Badal. His double speak is nothing but “the pot calling the kettle black”, he remarked.
He alleged that the SAD-BJP alliance is now a den of corrupt, tainted and criminal politicians.  Similarly, the BJP is not far behind in promoting criminal and corrupt politicians.
He said on the contrary, Congress challenges Sukhbir Singh Badal to name any one politician of it, who has been convicted by a court of law and holds a party or government position. In-fact taking high moral ground, Suresh Kalmadi, MP, Pune, has been suspended from the primary membership of the party for being chargesheeted in the CWG scam. Ashok Chawan, ex-CM Maharashtra, was asked to step down as CM merely on allegations in the Adarsh housing scandal last year, even though there is no FIR against him, he said.
Adding, he said now that Rahul Gandhi VP, AICC has trashed the ordinance being brought to give immunity to convicted ‘Netas’ and has set the ball rolling for a nationwide debate on the issue. “I challenge Sukhbir Singh Badal to clearly spell out his agenda on the leaders convicted by various courts, holding important positions in his party and the government”, he said.
He added Congress also advices Sukhbir Singh Badal, that if he has an iota of morality in him being President of SAD once a glorious party, let him begin by suspending the 5 convicts from the primary membership of his party. In case he fails to do so, he should in future stop making baseless, wild and factually incorrect statements against the Congress party, he added.
