Ludhiana, January 10, 2013:  Malwa Sabhyacharak Manch Punjab will honour 7 prominent women personalities with Gold Medals here on the 20th  Lohri Mela on January 11.Brief profiles of these women are as under.

SONIKA MALHOTRA KANDHARI

Sonika Malhotra Kandhari is the Director of MBD Group. She is known for her honesty, dedication, hard working and humbleness. She followed the footsteps of her father late Shri Ashok Kumar Malhotra and attained a remarkable position in the field of business by entering into her family business. MBD Group is the largest publication group across the country has achieved new milestones under the leadership of Sonika Malhotra Kandhari. The Group has expanded its business by establishing its Malls in almost every Metro City, including Ludhiana where the Group has set up MBD Malls. The MBD Group has been awarded with “Best Franchise of The Year Award 2005” for establishing its chain of hotels across the country, which provide international-level facilities to customers. She has also been honoured with many other awards including “Indira Gandhi Priyadarshani Award”, “Shiromani Award”, “Women Super Achiever Award-2009” and “Amity Leadership Excellency Award.  Besides, LMA had awarded her “Young Business Woman” Award. Malwa Sabhyacharak Manch Punjab is honouring her with “Kalpana Chawla Gagan Udaari Purskar” while presenting a Gold Medal.

PENNY SANDHU

Penny Sandhu belongs to a Sikh family hailing from Punjab. She started her career as an architect after completing her education. Then she joined the profession of journalism and launched a Punjabi channel “Jus Punjabi” from United States of America (USA). Presently, she has been working as a bridge to connect NRIs especially Punjabi people with their politics, culture and tradition. She has set a new trend by launching a Punjabi channel from abroad. Her hard working is leading the channeled to new heights of popularity. Presently, she is the CEO of “Jus Punjabi”. Malwa Sabhyacharak Manch Punjab is honouring her with “Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha Yaadgari Media Purskar” while presenting a Gold Medal.

SATWINDER BITTI

Satwinder Bitti had started her career as a national-level hockey player. Her actual name is Satwinder Kaur Khaira. Later on, she adopted the profession of singing and got popularity as a Punjabi singer. Inspired from the Bollywood singer Lala Mangeshkar, Bitti brought her first album “Pure Di Hawa”. Then she never looked back and gave many albums such as “Ik Wari Hass ke”, “Nachdi De Siron Patase”, “Chandi Diyan Jhanjran” and “Nacch Patolla Ban Ke”. She also gave a religious album “Dhan Teri Sikhi” and “Rooha Rabb Diyan”. Her albums got popularity across the world. She performed as the role of a judge for the first time in the Punjabi singing show “Awaz Punjab Di” in the year 2011. She had been given dozens of awards by various organisations including Prof. Mohan Singh memorial Foundation. Malwa Sabhyacharak Manch Punjab is honouring her with “Jagmohan kaur Yaadgari Sangeet Purskar” while presenting a Gold Medal.

SANDEEP RAYAIT

Sandeep Rayait is a young industrial woman hailing from the industrial Ludhiana city. Generally, the family gets imbalance when its head passes away. But, this woman did not get dishearten after the sudden death of  her father. Rather, she faced the situation with a courage and handled the affairs of her late father’s industrial unit namely Akal spring Limited”. She took this industrial unit to the path of progress. This is why she was honoured with a certificate of honour as a successful industrial woman by the then Punjab chief minister Sardar Parkash Singh Badal on August 15, 2011. Malwa Sabhyacharak Manch Punjab is honouring her with “Shri Satpaul Mittal Udyog Vikas Putri Purskar” while presenting a Gold Medal.

SARABJIT KAUR KOKEWALI

Sarabjit Kaur Kokewali who has attained a special place in the field of Punjabi singing does not need any introduction. She has started her singing career at the age of 13 when she had been studying in the school. She commenced her professional journey of singing from All India Radio. She had performed over 100 singing shows in India and abroad so far. As such, she had created her fans all across the world. She had also given her voice as a play back singer in 45 Punjabi films. It may be mentioned here that she had sung a “Lori” in the Punjabi film “Uccha Dar Babe Nanak Da” following which she was awarded with Kala Shree Award by Bollywood Showman Raj Kapoor. She had already been awarded with Mohammad Rafi Award, Prof. Mohan Singh Memorial  Award, Nand Lal Noorpuri Award and Punjab Ratan Award by social and cultural organisations.  She had also sung a “Ghori” in the Gurdas Mann’s Punjabi film `Mamla Gadbad Hai”, which is very famous among the masses. Malwa Sabhyacharak Manch Punjab is honouring her with “Noorjahan Yaadgari Sur Shahzadi Purskar” while presenting a Gold Medal.

JAGWINDER KAUR VIRK

Jagwinder Kaur Virk is known for following rich Punjabi traditions. She was born and brought up at Cheemna village in Ludhiana District. She learnt all this from her father Kundan singh Dhaliwal and mother Gurdial Kaur. Presently, she has been living a prosperous life in Calgary (Canada). But, she has not changed her behaviour and attitude. Rather, she is still following rich Punjabi traditions and culture. Whenever a Punjabi visit them, she alongwith her husband Pali Virk gives a warm welcome and due regard, which cannot be narrated in words. Malwa Sabhyacharak Manch Punjab is honouring her with “Bebe Amar Kaur Jassowal Yaadgari Sachiyari Punjaban Puskar” while presenting a Gold Medal.

HAIRATJEET KAUR

Hairatjeet Kaur had a reading habit since her childhood. As a result, she got first division in every class. She did MSc Botany.  She also appeared in the written examination of IFS and cleared the examination. But, she did not get success in the interview.  However, she cleared IFS examination in the third attempt. She attained 7th rank at the national – level. She prepared for the examination on her own and did not get coaching from anybody. However, she got GK coaching from her elder brother Gauravjit Singh. Her target was to clear IFS and she did day and night hard working for achieving the target. She has a dream that every daughter of this Nation should attain higher education and she should be self confidence and lead in every sphere. Malwa Sabhyacharak Manch Punjab is honouring her with “Damini Memorial Purskar” while presenting a Gold Medal.
