New Delhi, August 27, 2022: Leading educational institution JD Institute of Fashion Technology on Friday inaugurated its annual event “I-festival” at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Weightlifting Auditorium to showcase the designs of their talented students through exhibition and fashion show. The event was attended by almost 5000 people along with a dignitary from Israel, fashion designers, interior designers, architectural designers, content creators and Fashion Editors. The theme of this year’s fashion extravaganza is “Arrival” and it aims to make the industry reconsider the legacy they have left behind.

“I am an architect, an interior designer but design and all its forms, fashion and the related I think that's what makes it very special. I always say that now a design school is definitely a better exposure to students than just a single discipline school. And I can see that JD Institute of Fashion Technology will fly high with the young Harsh Dalal ably handling and inspiring everything. I think that's what we need. And that's where the young generation are looking at the world differently and adapting to the changing situations with the technology that's available. I wish you the very best and I'm very happy to declare the 2022 exhibition opening. Wish you all success,” said Tanuja B.K during the inauguration.
Praising the effort of the students and welcoming the chief guest, Rupal Dalal, Managing Director, JD Institute of Technology, said, “Thank you so much Tanuja ji for coming and sharing your views about the exhibition. I am very eager to see the exhibition, I cannot stop myself. I came in the morning, students were working so hard, running here and there, trying to fix up things. They were actually thirsty, hungry but they were hardly bothered about anything. They were just working because by 1'o'clock the exhibition space had to be set up. So all the best everyone.
The major attraction of the day was the exhibition, where some concepts like renovation and innovation, evolution and harmony, virtual, democratize the space, enhancing abilities and smart wardrobe. The theme of the fashion show was ‘Arrival into the future’, which showed sustainability and nature-inspired clothing and motifs in the collection, which was designed by the students of the JD Institute of Fashion Technology across the country.
The two-day event is divided into -- Fashion Awards, Exhibitions and showcase of unique designs and concepts. The Fashion Award is a successful effort to award the trend setters, who have created mass following by the trends they started and therefore have become fashion icons. It will also recognise the upcoming young fashion designers. It also provides a unique opportunity to announce the ultimate fashion verdict amongst the youth of India, young and affluent connected to art, design and lifestyle, the youth who confirm to be ‘different’.
The Day 2 of the event will have the presence of noted Indian designer, scenographer and art curator- Padma Bhushan Rajeev Sethi and Bollywood veteran actor Shabana Azmi as the chief guest. She also happens to be a great admirer of Indian handlooms and bats for its revival to save the dying art form. Dinesh Mohan who lost 50 kgs in his fifties to become an ace model, will be the showstopper of the fashion show. Almost 10,000 audience and 30 designers, artists and creators are expected to be a part of the glitzy affair.
The exhibition will showcase prototypes, installations and models created by aspirational designers’ independent artists and renowned brands. It will also invite the audience to come, ponder over concepts and ideas displayed by these aspiring designers and help them gain more perspective. The exhibition will also host design speakers and alumni to come, interact and engage in discussions over design and its future.
