Jiwanjyot Project- Save the Childhood- DC holds meeting, directs officials to ensure effective implementation of program
Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal on Tuesday held a meeting with the officials of the various departments in which discussions were took place about the effective implementation of the 'Jiwanjyot Project- Save the Childhood' by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, in the district.
Ludhiana, November 5, 2024: Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal on Tuesday held a meeting with the officials of the various departments in which discussions were took place about the effective implementation of the 'Jiwanjyot Project- Save the Childhood' by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, in the district.
The project aims to rescue and rehabilitation of children involved in beggary, rag-picking/wandering on the streets.
Jorwal instructed the officials of the education department to ensure checking the attendance of the children of every school and make sure that the absent child is not involved in child begging. He also stated that the volunteers of the education department must go to the slum areas and conduct bridge courses for the children so that the children can be admitted to the new session.
Apart from this, Jorwal also directed the officers of the police department to identify the sensitive areas under their respective jurisdictions and share the list with him. Further, the District Child Protection Officer along with police department conduct the survey in these areas and ensuee linkage of children found with government schemes including Ayshman Card, Sponsorship Scheme, Pension Scheme etc.
Further, those found involved in drug addiction, these departments must admit the concerned victim into nearby de-addiction center for rehabilitation. The EBEE office has been asked to ensure the parents of such children must undergo skill-development course to make employed.
