Chandigarh, September 26, 2012: The surprise visit of Technical Education Minister Anil Joshi to the ITI (W) Ghumar Mandi, Civil Lines, Ludhiana and ITI Samrala took everybody off guard.

It may be mentioned that it was first surprise visit of Technical Education and Industrial Training Minister to any ITI after assuming the charge.

The Minister went around the institutes and impressed upon the Principals and Instructors to improve discipline amongst students. He also expressed concern over barren grounds of ITI and told the Principals to improve greenery and environment in the institutes by planting more saplings and trees.

At Samrala, the Minister expressed concern over the fact that Principal has convened a meeting regarding elections affecting the class work of students and issued instruction that such meetings should be held only on holidays so that academic work of institutes did not suffer.

The Minister said that he would continue to make surprise visits on regular basis to improve the standards of 111 ITIs. He asked the Principals to redesign the curriculum of ITIs according to the local needs of industry so as to increase the employability of ITI trainees.

Joshi said that his focus was technological and machinery improvement of ITIs according to the changing needs of industry.
