Just in: Subhash Ghai confirms Aitraaz 2 with OMG 2’s Amit Rai bringing a daring new story!

Mumbai: On the 20th anniversary of the Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Kareena Kapoor Khan-starrer Aitraaz, producer Subhash Ghai confirmed exciting news: Aitraaz 2 is officially in the works, bringing another intense story to the big screen. In an exclusive conversation, Subhash Ghai revealed that the new film’s script is in the hands of Amit Rai, the mind behind Oh My God 2.

Subhash Ghai, who produced the original Aitraaz in 2004 with direction by Abbas-Mustan, has taken a bold new step for part 2 by partnering with Amit Rai. “I’ve heard a fantastic script from Amit Rai, the writer-director of Oh My God 2, which has been shaped into Aitraaz 2 now. We’ve already been flooded with calls from studios wanting to back the project. Amit has struck gold with another powerful script, and I absolutely loved it,” Subhash Ghai shared.

The original Aitraaz tackled a provocative topic, workplace sexual harassment, that resonated strongly with audiences. When asked if the sequel would dive into similarly bold waters, Subhash Ghai hinted that Aitraaz 2 would tackle a fresh, thought-provoking theme related to modern-day intimacy and changing values. “The subject belongs to Amit Rai. He’s penned a daring story about today’s evolving views on sex and relationships. It’s not just a social drama; it has powerful, high-stakes moments. We’re thrilled to get started on it,” he added.

Priyanka Chopra’s portrayal of the ambitious and cunning Sonia Roy left an indelible mark on Bollywood and pushed her career to new heights. With casting underway for the sequel, Subhash Ghai confirmed that they have a wish list for the film’s female lead. “It will be another bold role, one that I’m sure will earn accolades for the actor, just as Priyanka’s performance did,” he teased. And with a confident flair, he signed off with a promise: “This sequel will out do Aitraaz."
