K. Raghav Bhandari declared Gross Winner of SJOBA Golf Tournament 2025, emerges winner in 0-9 handicap category too
K. Raghav Bhandari was adjudged gross winner of the SJOBA Golf Tournament 2025 held at the lush green Chandigarh Golf Club on Sunday. The tournament was organised by St. John’s Old Boys Association (SJOBA) – the alumni association of St. John’s High School, Chandigarh. Br. Augustine Jairaj, Principal of St. John’s High School signalled the start of the tournament by hitting a shot as part of the ceremonial tee-off of the tourney.

Chandigarh, March 16, 2025: K. Raghav Bhandari was adjudged gross winner of the SJOBA Golf Tournament 2025 held at the lush green Chandigarh Golf Club on Sunday. The tournament was organised by St. John’s Old Boys Association (SJOBA) – the alumni association of St. John’s High School, Chandigarh. Br. Augustine Jairaj, Principal of St. John’s High School signalled the start of the tournament by hitting a shot as part of the ceremonial tee-off of the tourney.
While Harpal S Malvai, President, SJOBA was the tournament referee, Salil Talwar was the Golf Event Coordinator.
Gurinder Bhatti, Founder & Promoter of GB Realty Group, also the sole sponsor of the SJOBA Golf Tournament 2025, graced the event as the chief guest. He also gave away the prizes. Salil informed that the scoreboard was formulated based on the Double Peoria - Stableford Point System.
Showcasing his exceptional skills on the golf course, K. Raghav Bhandari was declared the gross winner with 1 over. A total of 72 golfers participated in the event, playing 18 holes on the par-72 course.
K. Raghav Bhandari also won the top spot in the Handicap 0-9 category with a score of 37 pts while Ashray Gakhar secured the Runner-Up position with a score of 36 pts.
In the Handicap 10-18 category, R. S. Virk emerged victorious with an impressive score of 37 pts, while Gurnoor Sangha finished as the Runner-Up with a score of 36 pts.
In the Handicap 19-24 category, Samay Sandhawalia claimed the Winner’s title with a score of 33 pts, while Udhay Mahajan secured the Runner-Up position with a score of 32 pts.
In the Senior's category Arun Johal was declared the winner with 35 pts, while in the Junior's category Jai Gupta who is currently studying at St. Johns High School, was declared winner with a score of 36 points and also did well in the ‘Overall Gross’ score.
In the fairway contests: 'Closest to the Pin' winner was Manu Khosla with 3 feet from the pin at hole 14, Sahil Sahgal with 266 yards won the 'Longest Drive' contest at hole 12 and the 'Straightest Drive' contest was won by Karan S. Bajaj with a 2 ft 6-inch drive at hole 5.
Speaking on the occasion, Harpal S. Malvai, President of SJOBA, congratulated all participants and winners. He expressed his immense delight at the overwhelming enthusiasm of the players, which contributed to the tournament’s success. He said, “SJOBA is committed to fostering a strong golfing culture in the region and will continue to organize such tournaments in the future. This event is not just a competition but a celebration of talent and the true spirit of golf, serving as a platform to identify and nurture talent.”
Danish Mangat, Secretary of SJOBA, added, “SJOBA is one of the oldest organizations at the forefront of promoting different sports. The SJOBA Motorsports Rally ranks among the top five in the country, a distinction we have earned through continuous evolution since 1981. During the prize distribution ceremony, the winners were felicitated with trophies and goodie bags in recognition of their remarkable achievements and participation.
