Kailash Satyarthi urges all to look within to find hero in them to bring desired change in society

Chandigarh, October 12, 2017: Nobel Laureate Shri Kailash Satyarthi and Lal Bahadur Shastri Chair Professor at Panjab University delivered a special lecture on “Ending Violence Against Children Globally” on the occasion of 6th PU Foundation Day at Law Auditorium, here today.
Sh.Kailash in his address said that the structural problems of the society can not be solved by the conventional ways. Violence against children is a crime against human dignity. His war is against mental attitude which should be changed for making
India safe for all, he added. He urged the governments to prioritize the child related Sustainable Development Goals and put children first. He further added that awareness only will not help but political solutions is the need of the hour to solve the issue.
He informed that the Kailash Satyarthi Chaildren’s Foundation is striving towards his vision of ending violence against children globally.
Sh.Kailash urged all to look within to find hero in them to bring the desired change in the society as the power to change lies in each one of us. His goal for Bharat Yatra is to make India free of fear, free of child abuse, free of child/girl trafficking. He urged all to bring their passion in making New India where each child is secure, all have food to eat and each girl is safe. He informed that presently, he is leading
the largest campaign the Bharat Yatra (India March) calling for an end to child sexual abuse and trafficking in India and Panjab University is one of the platforms from where he wants to regenerate the high spirit among the youths.
PU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Arun Kumar Grover said that the Foundation Day lecture in an attempt to give exposure to all of us of the best in different fields. First Foundation Day lecture in 2012 was delivered by eminent historian Prof. Romila Thapar; the second was given by Jananpith Award winner writer Prof.Gurdial Singh; the third one by eminent nuclear scientist, Prof.S.K.Banerjee; the fourth one by renowned environmentalist Professor Kamaljit Singh Bawa, FRS; fifth one by an eminent Gandhian, thinker and social activist who is also Chancellor of Gujarat Vidayapith, Ms. Ela Bhatt, and today by Nobel Laureate Shri. Kailash Satyarthi and Lal Bahadur Shastri Chair Professor, he added. He said that today’s foundation day lecture is of global importance for ending violence against children.
Dr. Manish Sharma ,Coordinator ,P U Foundation Day in his vote of thanks said that the PU Foundation Day Lecture has emerged as a key event in the global calendar of important events of the Universities .He added that PU is becoming increasingly active at the Global , National and Regional level making contribution to the strengthening of the multi lateral and regional institution , building connectivity, forging international cooperation to deal with different problem .
Punjabi University Vice Chancellor Prof B.S. Ghuman, and large number of PU fellows, teachers, officers, students and research scholars also participated in the Foundation Day public lecture.
Earlier a rally started from the PU Guest house to the Law Auditorium in which the students from different departments, NSS Volunteers and schools students participated to spread the message to eliminate the child abuse and slavery along with Shri Kailash Satyarthi.
