Thanks to new technologies and treatment procedures, an increasing number of people are now able to undergo organ transplantation with a higher successful outcome. As a result, the need for organ transplantation surgeries is increasing every year. But unfortunately, there is a severe gap in understanding the need and the impact of organ donation in India. At least five lakh people across the country die every year due to failure of vital organs. If this gap can be closed then many lives can be saved.
Speaking at the programme Dr.G. Swarnalatha, CEO of Jeevandan organisation, Telangana State, said, “I would like to thank all the organ donors families, without thier contribution there is no transplant process. Organ donation rate in India is 8% and TS is 4.5%. 2 lakh people are awaiting for transplant in India. During Covid we have built more than strong. Lung was doing major damage due to Covid. More than 200 lung transplants done”.

We are privileged to be part of the Organ donation process. There is more demand and less supply. They become emotional in the process of Organ donation. Recently, we busted an international organ retrieving rocket. Do not fall in the organ retrieving rocket for money. Create awareness among society about Organ donation. Felicitation of family members is a Noble gesture. Hyderabad is becoming an Organ transplantation hub. Many international patients coming to Hyderabad for Transplant. My appeal to public is we have to create awareness in our relatives” Shri Mahesh Bhagwat added.
Speaking at the programme Dr. Gayatri Kamineni, COO, Kamineni Hospitals, said, “After extensive study, research and experimentation, organ transplant operations have evolved into a wonderful life-saving treatment offered by the modern medical field. Kidneys, liver, bone marrow, lungs, heart, pancreas, and corneas, among others, can be used from donors and transplanted on patients who require them. Lack of awareness about organ donation, along with misconceptions and suspicions, are the main obstacles to greater organ donation rates in the country. Organs, which are nature's most valuable human resources, should not be wasted; they should be used optimally to provide a new lease of life to those who are in need of it. I hope more people will come forward and participate in taking the pledge to this worthy cause.”
“One person can save more than 8 lives by donating his well-functioning organs. Donating organs provides a unique opportunity to make a positive difference in another person’s life. The National Organ Donation Day is a right occasion for all to pledge to donate their organs and kindle the lamp of hope in the lives of needy patients” Dr. Gayatri added.
