Kargil Vijay Diwas commemorated
In the solemn and inspiring ceremony, Kargil Vijay Diwas was commemorated by the Department of Defence and National Security Studies and the Department of Economics along with Horticulture Wing of Panjab University, Chandigarh and organised a Tree Plantation Drive in adjacent ground of the building of the Arts Block 3 on Friday.
Chandigarh, July 27, 2024: In the solemn and inspiring ceremony, Kargil Vijay Diwas was commemorated by the Department of Defence and National Security Studies and the Department of Economics along with Horticulture Wing of Panjab University, Chandigarh and organised a Tree Plantation Drive in adjacent ground of the building of the Arts Block 3 on Friday.
Lt. Gen. Gurpal Singh Sangha (Retd.) AVSM, SM, VSM, Chair Professor, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Chair, DDNSS, PU was the chief guest at the event. On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Kargil Diwas, the event was organised in honour of the valour, incredible bravery and sacrifice of our soldiers. Their valour during the Kargil War is testament to their dedication to our nation. This event also emphasised the importance of environmental sustainability through dedicated tree plantation drive.
The ceremony began with Lt. Gen. Gurpal Singh Sangha paying homage to the war heroes of Kargil War. He highlighted the commitment of soldiers to our nation, who are serving the nation round the clock for the security of the nation. He also underlined the geopolitical significance of Kargil region in maintaining our territorial integrity. He emphasised the role of the armed forces in safeguarding our country’s sovereignty and highlighted the need for continued support and respect for our soldiers. He led the gathering in observing a poignant two minute silence remembering the courage and dedication of our soldiers, who fought for the nation’s honour and security.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty, research, scholars, students and also serving military personnel.
