Kashmiri Students’ visit to PU under Op Sadbhavna
Chandigarh, February 12, 2019: A group of twelve under-graduate students along with their two faculty members from the Government College, Nowshera of the Rajauri District in Jammu and Kashmir visited Panjab University, Chandigarh, here today. The visiting group held an interaction with the Dean University Instruction and officiating Vice Chancellor Prof. Shankarji Jha. They also met the Secretary to the Vice Chancellor and faculty members from the various departments of the university. Prof. Jaskaran Singh Waraich, Chairperson, Department of Defence and National Security Studies informed that their visit was part of the Deshattan 2019 tours being organised by the Rashtriya Rifles Force of the Indian Army under Operation Sadbhavana also known as Operation Goodwill. Op Sadhavana is a military-civic action programme launched by the Indian Army in the state of Jammu and Kashmir with the aim of “winning the hearts and minds” of the people in the region. The students also visited their department for an informal interaction with the faculty, research scholars and students of the department. This interaction was followed by a visit to the University Library and Gandhi Bhawan. The Lunch for the visiting group was organised by the University Administration at the Boys Hostel No. 2.
