Kataruchak reviews efforts to improve environment, holds meeting with Forest Department Officials
Punjab Forest Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak today presided over a regional level meeting of the officials of forest department here at State Forest Research Institute (S.F.R.I.) Ladhowal wherein district forest officers from across 15 districts participated.
Ludhiana, November 23, 2023: Punjab Forest Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak today presided over a regional level meeting of the officials of forest department here at State Forest Research Institute (S.F.R.I.) Ladhowal wherein district forest officers from across 15 districts participated.
Divulging the details, the minister said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann led state government is committed to improving our environment by making Punjab clean, green and pollution free as a slew of measures have already been taken by the government in this direction. He also reviewed various projects with respect to the forest department besides taking stock of maintenance of as many as 149 Guru Nank Bagichian. He directed the officials to plant maximum saplings at plain areas under different government schemes and regular plantation to be ensured alongside highways, link roads, and empty lands.
Stressing on the significance of the green mission, the minister said that trees are a major source of fresh oxygen aimed at improving the overall environment. He mentioned that plants play a crucial role in our lives; hence we all should make maximum efforts to make Punjab a green state.
Earlier, he also interacted with 45 newly appointed guards who took part in 55th forest guards’ basic training session held here at research institute wherein he congratulated the guards on their appointment. He also encouraged them to fulfil their job responsibilities with utmost sincerity and dedication.
