Kathak recital programme at KMV
Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organised Kathak Recital programme in collaboration with SPIC MACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth).

Jalandhar, April 8, 2022: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organised Kathak Recital programme in collaboration with SPIC MACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth). During the program, Guru Malti Shyam, a prolific kathak dancer graced the occasion. Anuradha Sondhi, Neetu Kapoor and Shiv Mittal, Member, KMV Managing Committee along with renowned alumni of KMV Sushma Sood, Neena Chahal, Jyoti Saggi and Harshita Sharma were also present on the occasion. Along with this, Dr Robert Urban, Professor, Eotvos Lorand University, Budapest, Hungary was also present on the occasion. Renowned tabla artist Pardeep Pathak & renowned vocalist Atul Sharma was also present.
Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi welcomed the esteemed guests to the event. In her welcoming address, Prof Dwivedi averred that the young generation of our country should strive to develop the finer aspects of life in order to develop balance in all spheres of life.
Prof. Dwivedi averred that the art form like dance motivate us all to look within us, to be in harmony with each other and with nature in order to feel the sensitivity of human nature.
Malti in her address said that KMV being a premier institution of India always takes a lot of initiatives in order to promote Indian culture and traditions among the society. She said that dance is a form of yoga as dance is a balance of mental, physical and spiritual aspect of one’s life. She said that this celebration is a reminder to us that dance and music is not merely entertainment, but it also has many deeper purposes in life. She explained very eloquently the various intricacies of Kathak dance to the students.
During the culmination of the event, Anuradha Sondhi extended Vote of Thanks to all the dignitaries and said that these kind of events help in the holistic development of the students. Principal lauded the efforts of Dr Madhumeet, Head, PG Department of English and Dr Poonam Sharma, Head, PG Department of Performing Arts for successfully organising the program.
