Ludhiana, April 19, 2019: In an initiative to acquaint the students with the Indian culture, heritage & classical music, DCM Presidency School organised a SPICMACAY presentation by Ms.Kavita Dwibedi who is an exponent of Odissi dance.
SPICMACAY was established in 1976 & Ludhiana is the oldest member. The motive of SPICMACAY is to orient the youth of our country in classical music & dance. The program was organised with the help of Mr. Atul Talwar from the Ludhiana chapter of SPICMACAY.
Ms. Kavita Dwivedi who is a student of Shri. Hari Krishan Bihari is into this field from last 35 years. She has been bestowed with numerous national & international awards. In today’s presentation she was assisted by Shri. Suresh Kumar in Vocals, Shri Parshant Kumar on Mridung& Shri Yaar Mohammed on Sitar. Ms. Dwibedi updated the students regarding Odissi dance & its ancient manifestations. She shared that classical dance in enriched with the facets of worship & beauty.
The program commenced with a formal lamp lighting ceremony. Ms. Dwivedi’s presentation comprised of various elements of Lord Krishna’s deity forms. She showcased various facial expressions & body postures to give her presentation a natural & religious feel. She informed the students that just like academics, dance also requires concentration & dedication.
Ms. Dwivedi shared with the students that dance encompasses the facets of nature & world peace, & we should also strive to conserve the elements of nature & peaceful co-existence. Everyone was spellbound by her performance.
Deputy CEO Ms. Nupur Nutun & Principal Ms. Rajni Kalra felicitated Ms. Kavita Dwivedi for her gracious presence.
