Jalandhar, August 8, 2012: Former Congress MLA from Bholath Sukhpal Singh Khaira has condemned the dastardly killing and looting of an
Amritsar businessman Munish Khanna yesterday.

In a statement here today, he added such incidents of murder, dacoity, loot and drug trafficking had become an order of the day.

“The Punjab police needs to learn a lesson from the effective policing displayed by the Wisconsin authorities while tackling the shootout at Oak creek Gurudwara couple of days back”, he remarked. He added the USA police responded within
minutes to the 911 call and they shot dead the killer on the spot.

Adding, he said a brave American police officer, Brian Murphy confronted the attacker and had been critically injured while defending the innocent citizens.
“Thereafter, the US government has swung into action and has involved
the FBI in its investigation and we are all sure that the guilty would not
be spared”, he said.
He asked did they have any such mechanism where their police had responded to
any distress call by its citizens. “Has our police ever reached the spot to
confront criminals”, he questioned

He regretted that on the contrary the politicised Punjab police was known
to shield guilty, convicted criminals, who were being provided VIP status in the jail. He said if any police officer tried to depoliticise the police, he was shifted out within days, despite clamor for his continuance by the local residents.
He urged the CM to take a cue from the fair and effective policing of USA and prevent Punjab from slipping into anarchy.
