Dharamsala, September 3, 2022: Deputy Commissioner Dr Nipun Jindal again visited the site at Khaniyara locality of Dharamsala this morning where a flash flood triggered by cloud burst wreaked havoc on Friday afternoon in Khanyara.
The DC was accompanied by SP Kangra Dr Khushal Sharma. Dr Jindal instructed the relief staff to take prompt steps for rehabilitation and relief of the affected public due to heavy rains and also directed to expedite the relief and rehabilitation works so that the affected people do not face any kind of trouble.
It is noteworthy that due to heavy rains on Friday, two shops, two houses and three kiosks have been completely damaged in Khanyara. Besides 15 houses, three shops have been partially damaged. Apart from this, 45 sheep and goats are missing.
Due to sudden heavy rain there was a flood in the small Nala In Khaniyara village adjoining Dharamsala, on Friday afternoon, causing a great damage to private and public property in the Khaniyara main market.
The water flow of the drain was so fast that the debris has entered the houses and shops on the Nag Mandir road. Few vehicles were also damaged. A small road bridge was also washed away and due to it the traffic on Dharamsala Sidhbari road via Khaniyara has been suspended.
Talking to the media today at Khaniyara, the Deputy Commissioner Dr. Nipun Jindal said, “On receipt of information regarding the cloud burst incident at Khaniyara yesterday, the rescue Team from SDRF Kangra had moved within 5 minutes for the incident place. A team headed by Tehsildar Apoorva Sharma was also sent to the site for relief work in the area. The damage caused is being reviewed and effective steps are being taken by the district administration to ensure that the affected families do not face any kind of problem.” He said that the district administration is also providing immediate relief to the affected people.
Deputy Commissioner Dr Nipun Jindal said that a control room has also been set up for disaster management at the district level, along with it, sub-divisional level control rooms have also been set up in all the sub-divisions so that on receiving information about the disaster, relief and rehabilitation can be done with immediate effect.
