KHANNA, April 13, 2018: Khanna Police today arrested four persons and seized 1.5kg opium and 9 kg poppy husk.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Khanna Navjot Singh Mahal told that on the directions of DGP Suresh Kumar Arora and DIG Ludhiana Range Ranbir Singh Khatra, high-tech surveillance has been initiated against the drug peddlers.
He said that Khanna CIA staff head inspector Baljinder Singh along with police party laid a trap at Pristine Mall, GT Road Khanna on Friday morning and stopped a black Micra (PB08-BQ-0020) for the checking. The car was being driven by Pawandeep Singh, Street Number-7, Jandpir Colony Mohalla, Chheharta and Sartaj Singh of Shaheed Udham Singh colony, Chabbal road, Amritsar.
On frisking, the cops recovered 1.5kg opium from a polythene bag. A case under sections 18,25-61 and 85 of NDPS Act has been registered against them at Khanna Sadar Police Station, he added.
Apart from this, Khanna city police also seized 9-kg poppy husk from auto rickshaw driver Neelkanth of Street Number-1, near Mata Vaishno Devi Temple, Salem Tabri Ludhiana and his accomplice Balvir Singh of Jabbowal, Nawanshahr.
The city police have laid a checking at Y-Point in Sadar Khanna area and stopped the auto (PB10-GK-0650) in which Neelkanth was on wheels while Balvir was sitting in the auto. A case under section 15-61-85 of NDPS Act has been registered against them at City Police Station.
