Khanna police holds mega athletic event to spread awareness against drug abuse
In a bid to keep youngsters from drug menace, Khanna Police on Wednesday held a mega sports event namely `Athletics Meet' here at AS College wherein hundreds of students from across the district participated in different sports activities.

MLA Manwinder Singh Giaspura, DIG Dhanpreet Kaur, Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana Surabhi Malik, Commissioner of Police Ludhiana Kuldeep Singh Chahal and SSP Khanna Amneet Kondal inaugurated the event and called upon the youngsters to adopt sports activities in their lives for career growth.
The DC congratulated Khanna Police for holding such a biggest sporting event to spread awareness against drug abuse. She further mentioned that sports play a pivotal role in our lives as it not only infuses a sense of discipline among us but also keeps us from drugs. The deputy commissioner also said that such kinds of physical activities strengthen the confidence of youth; thereby further motivating them to achieve higher goals in life.
She stated that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann led state government has already taken a slew of initiatives to wipe out drug menace from the state and `Khedan Watan Punjab Dian' was one of such events aimed at connecting our youngsters with sports.
She reiterated the government's commitment to eliminating drug menace from society and also solicited people's support in this mammoth task.
Pointing out further, SSP Khanna Amneet Kondal said that on the directives of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav, the police department was holding such awareness activities in the state. Under this initiative, an athletics meet was held today in Khanna wherein hundreds of children above the age of 14 years participated in several activities, she said. The SSP further mentioned that various sports activities including sprint, 400-meter run, 800-meter run, long jump, and high jump, short-put besides others were held at Khanna. She said that it was the need of the hour to spread awareness against drug abuse so that this anti-drug drive could be converted into a mass movement through active participation of people from across all walks of lives.
