Chandigarh, October 13, 2015: In a first-of-its kind workshop with the luminaries of the teaching fraternity from educational institutions spread across the country, Haryana Chief Minister Mr.Manohar Lal Khattar today offered to set up an Education University, a Sports University and a Skill Development University in Haryana. The Chief Minister, who was addressing the participants on the concluding day of two-day brainstorming workshop ‘Smagra Shiksha-Mukt Vimarsh’ here today, said that only good teachers could improve the quality of education at all levels. He also said that the Government would introduce School Leadership Training courses for teachers at the time of their promotions while breaking a new path in service training by reaching MoUs with premier community based organizations active in this field.
While assuring taking all possible steps for improvement in education system, the Chief Minister said that quality education and nation building is among the priority sector of the government. He asked them to provide valuable outcomes of the workshop to the government so that the same could be incorporated one-by-one while designing futuristic strategies of education sector. He said that the suggestions and recommendations of the workshop would also be added in the programme of Haryana Institute of Public Administration.
Mr. Manohar Lal said that State government is also considering setting up a Sports University in the State with the objective to produce quality postgraduates in sports related subjects and to promote sports education. Besides, a University for Skill Development will also be set up in the State. Referring to a well-designed mapping of educational institutes, the Chief Minister said that mapping of schools and colleges was being done to establish new institutes as per the requirement of the region.
Describing the human building as a key factor, the Chief Minister said that future of the state and the nation rests on this. The works which have been done during last 68 years in this direction cannot be called as commendable he said, adding that some organization have inspired to this effect. Today, human has become self-centric and this tendency can only by changed with emphasis on imparting moral values through education. The education at all levels starting from primary, high, technical, skills etc should be such that an individual is able to work in the best interest of society, state and country. He emphasized the need to adopt best practices for bridging the gap between quality of education in urban and rural areas.
Speaking on this occasion Haryana Education Minister Mr. Ram Bilas Sharma said that all the educationists have given valuable suggestions which would be kept in mind in designing newer programs in the coming months and years.
Haryana Agriculture Minister Mr. O. P. Dhankar, Special Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. R.K. Khullar, Additional Chief Secretary School Education Mrs. Keshni Anand Arora, Additional Chief Secretary Higher Education Mr. Vijai Vardhan and other senior officers of Higher Education, Technical Education and Industrial Training Departments were also present./ (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
