Khelo India Rising Talent Identification trials starts in Ludhiana
Khelo India Rising Talent Identification (KIRTI) trials started at the multipurpose sports hall in Ludhiana on Monday.
Ludhiana, July 29, 2024: Khelo India Rising Talent Identification (KIRTI) trials started at the multipurpose sports hall in Ludhiana on Monday.
Assistant Commissioner Kritika Goyal inaugurated the trials and encouraged school children aged nine to 18 to participate for their maximum participation. The trials aim to identify grassroots talent in six sports: football, volleyball, athletics, kabaddi, kho-kho, and wrestling. Selected children will receive specialized coaching and financial assistance to prepare them for the Olympics.
Goyal emphasized using sports as a tool for a healthy life and to keep youngsters away from drugs and gadgets. She believes that the KIRTI program will promote sports among youngster. This initiative aims to eliminate the problem of drug menace and mobile addiction among youths in the state. She stated that there is no dearth of talent in the state, but the crucial need is to provide the players with better infrastructure and facilities, which is being ensured by the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.
District Sports Officer Rupinder Singh Brar, Nodal Officer Rakesh Kumar Solanki, and others were also present at the inauguration.
