Kirtan Darbar takes place at Dhillon Open Air Theater of Guru Hargobind Khalsa College
In commemoration of Guru Hargobind Sahib, the "Bandi Chhor" Kirtan Darbar took place at the Dhillon Open Air Theater of Guru Hargobind Khalsa College in Gurusar Sadhar, Ludhiana.
Ludhiana, November 20, 2023: In commemoration of Guru Hargobind Sahib, the "Bandi Chhor" Kirtan Darbar took place at the Dhillon Open Air Theater of Guru Hargobind Khalsa College in Gurusar Sadhar, Ludhiana.
The event featured Katha-Kirtan performances by teachers and students from the Degree College, Education College, and Pharmacy College. Shabad singing teams from Dashmesh Khalsa Sen.Sec.School, Heran, Government High School, Khandoor, Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School, Halwara, B.C.M. School, Ludhiana, and Govt School, Issewal also participated.
Giani Ravinderpal Singh, the renowned storyteller of Gurusar Sadhar Gurdwara Sahib, captivated the audience with the narrative of Gur Itihasa. Prior to the Kirtan Darbar, the traditional Sri Akhand Path Sahib commenced at Mata Ganga Girls Hostel, in observance of Guru Nanak Sahib Ji's incarnation.
The Kirtan Darbar saw the presence of principals, teachers, staff, and students from all three colleges, along with panch, sarpanch, Anganwadi workers, school principals, and dignitaries.
Addressing the devout assembly, Dr. Harpreet Singh, Principal of the Degree College, emphasized the significance of organizing religious events in educational institutions. He highlighted the importance of such occasions in fostering a connection between the new generation and their cultural heritage, asserting that one who remains tied to their heritage and history continues to live on.
Dr. Harpreet Singh also expressed concern about the growing detachment from cultural roots among Punjabi youth abroad. Special recognition was accorded to the students who performed Katha-Kirtan during the Kirtan Darbar. The event concluded with the serving of Guru's langar, with the stage expertly managed by Dr. Jaspreet Kaur Gulati.
