KMV celebrates National Handloom Day with full zeal and enthusiasm
Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) celebrated 10th National Handloom Day with great zeal and enthusiasm by the PG Department of Fashion Designing.
Jalandhar, August 8, 2024: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) celebrated 10th National Handloom Day with great zeal and enthusiasm by the PG Department of Fashion Designing.
The event was a vibrant celebration of India’s rich textile heritage, showcasing the dedication and talent of the students. The day featured an impressive array of articles created by the students, including exquisite phulkari and a diverse range of traditional handloom products. These creations not only demonstrated the students' creativity and technical skills but also reflected their deep commitment to celebrating and preserving cultural treasures through contemporary design.
In her address, Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi emphasized the importance of promoting Swadeshi products and supporting artisans, highlighting their crucial role in sustaining their livelihoods and reviving our cultural heritage. She noted that such initiatives are not just about preserving traditions but also about inspiring innovation within the fashion industry. Prof. Dwivedi also highlighted K.M.V.’s dedication to empowering emerging designers with essential fashion design skills, preparing them to excel in a competitive and self-reliant industry. It is pertinent to mention that there will be a long week celebration dedicated to this day during which various activities such as embroidery competition, invited talks will be organised and students will also showcase their contemporary work to the audience.
Principal lauded the efforts of Dr. Harpreet Kaur, Head, Fashion Designing Department and the entire faculty for their exceptional efforts in organizing and celebrating this significant day, turning it into a memorable occasion that honored India’s handloom legacy while fostering new talent.
