KMV celebrates National Science Day with full zeal and enthusiasm
Organises various activities and competitions to inculcate the scientific temper and vigour in the minds of the students
Jalandhar, February 27, 2024: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) Department of Sciences in collaboration with KMV IIC celebrated National Science Day to raise awareness of the value of science and its contributions to society. Indigenous technologies for Viksit Bharat was the topic of this year's National Science Day celebration. The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp.
Special guests Dr. Rohit Mehra, Dr. BR Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar, Er. Vishal Sharma, Chief Mentor, Innovation Hub, Pushpa Gujral Science City Kapurthala, Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi inaugurated the event.
Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi greeted distinguished guests and averred that Science is very important in our daily lives as science has facilitated the whole humankind and has made brilliant changes in the world. She further maintained that KMV is the pioneer institution in science education in this region and it is the only institution to be granted with first and only Anveshika Centre in Punjab. Er. Sharma gave a demonstration of other circuit design approaches during this event. Students from surrounding schools were also invited on this historic occasion. The Department of Science hosted numerous competitions and activities in which the students eagerly participated to create posters and Rangolis. Additionally, all the Science departments had Innovation Stalls on this occasion, where students displayed a wide range of original experiments that they had designed. Students also displayed their innovative demonstrations at the Innovation Stall, hosted by the Physics Department. These included models of stagnant water ejectors, Bluetooth cars, kaleidoscopes, periscopes, resonators, and arrangements of plane mirrors. The PG department of mathematics used the topic "Mathematics for Viksit Bharat@2047" to commemorate National Science Day. The department set up a booth to highlight the value of mathematics in the following areas: data analytics, decision-making, education and skill development, health care and biotechnology, technological advancement, infrastructure development, economic planning and policy, and environmental sustainability. Students enrolled in a certificate program in Vedic mathematics created an application on the usage of Vedic mathematics sutras that non-mathematical students can use to master the fundamentals of addition, subtraction and other mathematical operations with this quick and simple methods. Department of Zoology planned a blood type, blood pressure, and BMI/BMR checkup camp for students. Department of Chemistry demonstrated their scientific prowess through captivating experiments including Elephant Toothpaste, Secret Messages, Chemical Chameleon, Chemical Volcano, Power of Indicators, and various food adulteration experiments. During the culmination of the event, all the winners of the competition were facilitated with certificates and trophies.
