KMV Collegiate Sr. Sec. School initiates cleanliness drive in campus

Jalandhar, May 11, 2022: KMV Collegiate Sr. Sec. School initiated cleanliness drive in the campus to make the environment plastic free. To solve the crisis of single use plastic and to make the students aware of dire consequences of plastic pollution, KMV Collegiate Sr. Sec. School also organized a tutorial for them about the usage of the bottle crusher machine installed in the college campus by Municipal Corporation, Jalandhar so that the campus can be prevented from this type of pollution.  Under this initiative, students collected the used plastic bottles from the campus and disposed them off in the machine.  They were also guided to collect the wrappers and other plastic waste in a bottle so that it can be used for the decoration of botanical garden of the college. The students were also given tips about the menstrual health and hygiene. They were told the steps to use incinerator machine and dispose off their used sanitary napkins so that it can help to limit plastic waste production. It is pertinent to mention that a total 5 incinerators have been installed in the premises to destroy sanitary napkin waste. KMV is the first one who took this initiative with the help of Municipal Corporation, Jalandhar. Students were also motivated to adopt environmental friendly habits and vowed to abstain from using single-use plastics in future. 
Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that KMV always makes a concerted effort to act in an environmentally responsible manner. The college has adopted scientific methods based on 3-R Principal (Reduce- Reuse- Recycle) in handling Solid, Wet, Chemical, Bio-medical, and E-wastage. She further maintained that KMV is committed to work in this direction with an aim to develop campus as a Zero Waste Zone of Jalandhar city and then to implement this model in the villages adopted by the KMV under Unnat Bharat Abhiyaan  and also to the surrounding areas of the college. Madam Principal lauded the efforts of Mrs Veena Deepak, Co-ordinator, KMV Collegiate Sr. Sec. School for mentoring the students.On this occasion, Anand Prabha, Incharge, KMV Collegiate Sr. Sec. School, Ashima Sahni, Head, Department of Political Science and Coordinator, NSS and the faculty members of KMV Collegiate Sr. Sec. School were also present.
