KMV commemorates Mahatma Gandhi’s 72nd death anniversary
Floral tributes paid to Mahatma
Jalandhar: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar’s Gandhian Studies Centre along with the Department of History paid glowing homage to the father of the nation Mahatama Gandhi on his 72nd death anniversary. Floral tributes were paid to the Mahatma amidst the chanting of his favorite bhajan 'Vaishnav Jan to'. Students gave voice to their thoughts on lessons learnt from the life of Gandhiji and their relevance in today's world. As on this day we also pay homage to all the soldiers who happily lay down their life for the motherland. The students also saluted their sacrifices, in the form of various competitions like:-Painting, Essay writing etc. In the painting competition students showcased their creativity on the theme of National Integration and in essay writing competition they presented their thought on the topics of Relevance of Gandhi, Role of youth in nation building and India of my dreams.
Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi paying tributes to the Mahatma called upon the students to imbibe his qualities. She said Gandhiji is not dead but he is alive in each one of us. She maintained that like Gandhiji we should learn to emphasize with others and try to alleviate the sufferings of fellow brethren. She also appreciated the work done by the Gandhian Studies Center in keeping alive and spreading the Gandhian Philosophy among the youth. She lauded Dr. Monica Sharma, the director of the center and Dr. Gurjot Kaur, Head Dept. of History for their efforts.
