KMV commences 4 day online international workshop on psychology of competition
Dr Marta Fulop, Eotvos Lorand Research Network, Budapest, Hungary invited as a resource person for the workshop
Jalandhar: Under the MOU signed with Eotvos Lorand University, Budapest (Hungary), Kanya Maha Vidyalaya’s P.G. Department of Psychology successfully commenced a 4 Day Online International Workshop on “Psychology of Competition”. The resource person for the workshop is Prof. (Dr.) Marta Fulop, Scientific Adviser and Head of the Social and Cultural Psychology research group in the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience and Psychology, Eotvos Lorand Research Network, Budapest, Hungary.
The workshop commenced with the welcome address by Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi. She averred that good competitiveness is the drive to accomplish the goal, bring out the best in individuals, and indeed help them understand themselves. She further maintained that this workshop is an effective way to develop competitiveness in a healthy way. Dr Marta addressing the students stressed on the importance of striking a balance between co-operation and competitiveness. Dr. Marta started with some general quiz regarding Hungary and then explained about the change in perception of competition and cooperation with time, and each society is a complex system of competitive and cooperative relationships. She talked about how interesting is the competition, within the family & parents etc. The dominant paradigm of research on competition was also very well explained by Dr Marta. She also talked about the positives of competition and cooperation in business, competitive altruism, and in the conclusion evolutionary and social/ psychological perspective with the cultural dimensions was also discussed. The students enthusiastically asked various questions from Dr. Marta to which Dr Marta responded eloquently.
Principal Prof Dr Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that KMV from time to time keep on organising such international workshops in order to provide global exposure to its students. She further maintained that this 4 day workshop will give an opportunity to the students to interact with Dr Marta and also to learn new concepts related to their subject. Madam Principal lauded the efforts PG Department of Psychology for successfully organising the international workshop.
