KMV commences 7-day online international conclave on global perspectives on education in covid-19 times
Dr Maria Zlateva and Dr Malavika Shetty from Boston University, USA addressed first session of conclave
Jalandhar: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya successfully commenced Seven Day Online International Conclave on Global Perspectives on Education in COVID-19 Times: Challenges & Opportunities. The first day of the conclave started with the lighting of lamps, in a virtual manner, keeping consistent with the traditions of KMV.
The session revolved around the subject of 'Teaching and Learning in Remote Environment' with Dr Maria Zlateva, Director of ESL, Boston University, Dr Malavika Shetty, Lecturer, Linguistics & Writing, Boston University as the keynote speakers of the session. Many informative and healthy facts were shared by the primary speakers in the session, enlightening the students and staff of KMV about how different methodologies and use of technology has made possible great engagement in the virtual classes owing to devastating pandemic. Dr. Malavika Shetty, a lecturer of Linguistics and Writings, shared her experience of online teaching and how she takes her classes by using different online platforms available to her and how she encourages her students to write for Wikipedia. While Dr. Maria Zlateva, the Director of ESL at Boston University acknowledged the students how the intimacy level between the students and teachers has changed due to the alarming situation created by the Pandemic and what will be its future implications. Students from different departments of the college asked various questions from the resource persons during the question and answer session on various issues pertaining to the education and they positively acquired answers for the same.
Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that KMV in its commitment of providing world class education to its students always keep on organising such kinds of international events. This international conclave will provide a perspective as to what are the various concerns that are related to education during COVID-19. She also mentioned the fact that KMV is one of the first college that switched to the digital technology for the education as we are regularly conducting online classes of the students. It is important to mention that on the second day of the conclave also the luminaries from leading Universities of US, Europe and Asia will grace the occasion. Dr Madhumeet, Head, PG Department of English was the moderator for the day.
