KMV commences a five-day Faculty Development Program on Building Writing Skills
Dr. Naima Han, Senior Consultant, Leeds Beckett University, UK addresses the faculty
Jalandhar, December 19, 2022: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organises many such important programs from time to time, so that the level of education can be raised by increasing excellence in teaching. In keeping with the trend, a five-day Faculty Development Program on Building Writing Skills was organised by the PG Department of English.
The inaugural session of the event which was attended by more than 150 participants from various educational institutions across the country. Dr. Naima Han, Senior Consultant, Leeds Beckett University, UK participated as a resource person in this program.
Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi, while welcoming Dr. Naima and the group participants, emphasised on the need of upgradation in the field of teaching in the current era and described this program as very effective in this direction. She averred hat during this event, theoretical modules, practical training and task assignments will be shared with the participants so as to provide them with knowledge and a sense of confidence to work according to different types of writing. She further described writing skills as a fundamental skill which is very important in a good communication. Along with this, she also stressed on the need and importance of good writing and speaking skills in the work environment.
During her address, Dr. Naima, who has vast experience in various aspects related to education, explained in detail about developing writing skills through power point presentation, gave information about the subject, language & vocabulary etc. Apart from telling about the importance of choosing the right words as well as correct sentence structure for effective communication through good writing, she also explained the importance of knowing the background of the reader before presenting his ideas. Apart from this, she also acquainted everyone about the usage of words in a planned manner during any writing & also shared various writing tasks with the participants, working on which the group participants practically understood the correct choice of words according to the topic. Along with explaining the importance of proper use of grammar in any writing, she also answered various questions asked by the participants in a very simple manner.
Principal extended her gratitude towards Dr. Naima for providing important information on the subject to the participants on the first day of the program. She lauded the efforts of Dr Madhumeet, Head, PG Department of English, Dr Shalini Gulati and Dr Reena Sharma for successfully organising the program.
