KMV enacts `Nukkad Natak’ for the `Drug Free Punjab’
Jalandhar, September 3, 2018: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya-the Autonomous & Heritage Institution, Jalandhar has always understood its moral responsibility towards the society, therefore KMV has made an endeavour in the direction of 'Drug Free Punjab' by preparing a 'Nukkad Natak' against the evil of drugs and enacting it at various places. Students enacted this 'Nukkad Natak' on streets, chowks, villages and in various senior secondary schools to make the youth aware about the ill-effects of the drugs. The first performance of the street play was held at Shivani Park, Model Town where the Police Commissioner, Jalandhar Sh. Parveen Kumar Sinha also witnessed the Nukkad Natak and appreciated the efforts of the students. It was Principal Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi's vision that this Nukkad Natak should go to people's home, villages and schools of Jalandhar and other adjoining areas. To continue their guiding motto i.e. "Committed to Drug Free Punjab'', the students had played street plays at various places like Government Girls Sr. Sec. School, Adarsh Nagar Continuing the series, another school of the village Randhawa Masanda was chosen where the street play was presented. The girls performed the play in two more villages, Sadana and Daddiyan. The students of KMV have also taken a pledge to continue their effort and not stop until a positive result of reformation is seen in this direction.
It is worth mentioning here that the entire college, faculty and support staff is coming forward to contribute in this direction by rendering help to the affected ones. Principal Prof.. Atima Sharma Dwivedi reiterated her commitment to the cause and averred that the students will be performing these street plays at many places including the villages adopted by KMV NSS Unit- Mubarakpur, Sheikhe Pind, Raipur, Rasoolpur and Santokhpura. She also highlighted the pioneering and pivotal role KMV has always played in the eradication of various social evils and expressed KMV's resolve to make a significant contribution in helping the youth of Punjab to come out of the tentacles of the deadly monster of drug.
Principal also paid rich compliments to the untiring efforts and dedication of all the faculty members & students involved in this initiative.
