KMV enters second day of seven days online international conclave on global perspectives on education in covid-19 times

Jalandhar: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya successfully entered into the second day of Seven Day Online International Conclave on Global Perspectives on Education in COVID-19 Times: Challenges & Opportunities. 

The second day of the conclave started with the lighting of lamps, in a virtual manner, keeping consistent with the traditions of KMV. Dr Marta Fulop, Professor of Social Psychology, Eotvos Lorand University, Budapest, Hungary & Dr Janos Gyori, Professor of Education & Psychology, Eotvos Lorand University, Hungary were the keynote speakers of the session. Many informative and healthy facts were shared by the primary speakers in the session, enlightening the students and staff of KMV about the effect of COVID-19 lockdown in Hungarian University students’ mental health. Dr. Marta Fulop during the session shared her research study that she conducted on the Hungarian university students in order to assess the impact that this lockdown had on their mental health. What were the fears in the minds of the students in relation to the economic, social, mental & academic consequences that they have to face during this pandemic situation. Dr Fulop also explored as what did the students learnt during this pandemic situation as whether they were able to adapt readily to the new paradigm of study and also how they will respond to this kind of situation in the future. Dr Janis Gyori during the session explained that what were systematic, institutional and individual responses to the COVID situation in Hungarian public and higher education. He stressed on the fact that we don’t expect to find a single uniform answer to this situation- not within a single education system as education has been deeply affected by this situation in all its aspects. However, a catastrophic situation can also be an opportunity of learning, innovation and redesigned development. He also shared the systemwide, institutional, teacher, student and parents reaction to this situation. He also said that many development has also taken place under this pressure as there has been a new learning experience for the teachers, a huge number of educational innovations has taken place, new collaborations between formal and non formal sectors in education has taken place and the communication pattern between teachers, students, institutions and parents has changed as they all have realised that they rely on each other very much. 

Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that all over the world this pandemic situation has affected the education scenario very deeply, therefore, it is not a problem of one or two nations but of the whole world. We all should together address this situation very earnestly and look for the possible solutions. After the session, a virtual tour of KMV college was also played that showcased the campus and state of the art infrastructure of the KMV. It is important to mention that on the third day of the conclave also the luminaries from leading Universities of US, Europe and Asia will grace the occasion.
