KMV honours meritorious scholars in 135th online prize distribution function
Prof. (Dr.) Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar was the chief guest for the occasion
Jalandhar: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya organized its 135th Annual Prize Distribution Function in online mode to celebrate academic excellence and meritorious achievements of its scholars. The Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar was accorded virtual felicitations on this occasion. Principal Prof.(Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi in her welcoming address read out the detailed Annual Report of the college’s outstanding achievements in various fields-academics, co academics, sports, cultural activities etc. As many as 320 prizes were distributed to the deserving scholars for fetching laurels to their alma mater in diverse fields.
Enumerating numerous success stories, Prof. Dwivedi apprised the eminent guests that KMV, being the first women institution in Punjab to earn the coveted status of Autonomous institution- with all its freedom to bring out academic reforms for the progression of young India, is yielding enviable results. She averred that winning streak has always been the hallmark of educational standards at KMV. The Presiding Dignitary Sh.Chander Mohan Ji, President, Arya Shiksha Mandal reaffirmed his faith in the immense potential and indomitable will of the KMV scholars in the pandemic times, mentoring skills of the faculty and futuristic and motivational guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi that are all in a synergized way taking the institution to newer heights year after year. National and State Top Rankings bagged by KMV in prestigious India Today and Outlook Magazine’s Survey of Best Colleges 2020 speak volumes about its qualitatively progressive approach towards Higher Education for today’s women. The Best Student of the year Award was bagged by Kamakshi, a student of B.A. (Hons.) English Sem.VI for her outstanding performance in academic as well as cultural activities and competitions at various levels. Innovative Innovations Award was bestowed upon Ms. Pranavcheet, a student of M.A. Psychology Sem. II. Munificent prizes were given away to deserving students for their outstanding achievements and contribution in various categories like Excellence in Science, Commerce, Computer Science, English, ECA, Social Outreach, Online Access to Library during Corona Times, Sports Stars, Water Warriors & Environmentalists and many more. PG Department of Computer Science and Applications was awarded for having provided their support during Corona times for facilitating Online Teaching –Learning Program through Learning Management System. Another special award was bestowed upon PG Department of Fashion Designing for bagging eight IPRs by faculty and students of the department.
On this occasion, KMV Sportsline, KMV Newsline: Special Edition & KMV YouthPulse were also released. Congratulating the prize winners, Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu wished them for their bright future and expressed his profound pleasure on their achievements and the steady progress of this iconic and historic institution. With an imbued sense of pride and glory, Dr. Sandhu shared his own inspirational story of success motivating the young achievers of the college to work hard with diligence, toughness of mind and humility as these values have no substitutes. Though times are trying but the spirits must remain undaunted to combat all hardships with positive mind set.
The formal vote of thanks was accorded by esteemed Sh. Alok Sondhi , General Secretary, KMV Managing Committee to all the distinguished guests and luminaries for gracing the occasion. Dr. Sushma Chawla, Vice President, KMV Managing Committee, Dr. Sushma Chopra, Secretary, KMV Managing Committee and Mrs Neerja Chander Mohan, Member, KMV Managing Committee also graced the event with their valuable presence. Madam Principal lauded the efforts of the whole organizing committee for successfully organizing the event.
