KMV introduces BA Vocational Studies- A first time in the Region
Interdisciplinary new age job oriented programmes
Jalandhar: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, the trailblazing institution has taken the lead in introducing two interdisciplinary BAVocational Studies programs namely BA Vocational Studies in Visual Communication and Retail Management. Moreover, two diplomas namely Child Care (Nanny) and Old Age Care with internationally accepted sector skill certification are also being introduced at KMV. KMV is also running skill based job oriented B. Voc. (Hospitality and Tourism) and B.Voc. (Artificial Intelligence & Data Science) along with 7 more skill development programs. Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that these new age programs will improve the employability of students focusing on outcome-based learning in degree programmes & promoting active linkage between the higher education system and industry as well as commercial enterprises/organisations. Prof. Dwivedi further adumbrated that the educational reforms that have been already implemented at KMV are in sync with the New Education Policy as much focus is given on skill based education at KMV as skill development programs are the need of the hour and help the students tread path of self reliance and empowerment.The curriculum for the above mentioned programs has been diligently designed by the experts from the industry concerned Sector Skill Council and the academia in the field. The students joining these programs will be trained on qualification based on industry identified job roles with much focus on hands on training and practical component. Students will appear in sector skill assessment and after the successful completion of their assessment, students will be awarded with certificate issued by National Skill Development Corporation, Government of India along with the degree awarded by Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. These new programs will be based on credit system & internships/ industrial trainings will be a major component in these programmes. These new programs which strive for skill development of the students offer various job avenues. BA (Vocational Studies- Retail Management) can help the pursuant become Sales Associate & Team Leader etc. BA (Vocational Studies- Visual Communication) offers job avenues such as Graphic Designer & VFX Artist etc. Diploma in Child Care Nanny & Old Age Care offers job roles such as Child care taker & Geriatric care aide etc. which is in much demand in foreign countries as well.
