Jalandhar, December 1, 2018: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the Heritage & Autonomous Institution, Jalandhar observed World AIDS Day on 1st December 2018. This year's theme is 'Know Your Status' which includes reaching people living with HIV Virus who don't know their status and ensuring that they are linked to quality care & prevention services which is possible only by raising awareness about it. Red Ribbon Club and Department of Zoology organised an awareness campaign and poster making competition for creating awareness among students about the AIDS, its causes, symptoms, diagnosis, precautions and treatment etc. 100 students participated with full enthusiasm in these activities.
Mrs. Sadhna Tandon, Head, Department of Zoology interacted with the students and clarified their queries and removed their myths regarding this disease. Dr Madhumeet, Dean, Student Welfare informed the students about the screening methods and treatment centres (eg. ART Centre in Civil Hospital, Jalandhar) and advised them to spread awareness.
Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi appreciated the efforts of the students & faculty members for organizing such social awareness events. The students who had made the best posters were felicitated by the Principal.
