KMV organises 138th Saraswati Poojan Samaroh to welcome new students to college on commencement of the new session

Jalandhar, August 19, 2023: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organised 138th Saraswati Poojan in a ceremonial way with its traditional fervour. The chief guest  Vishesh Sarangal, Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar was accorded floral felicitations on this auspicious occasion. Chander Mohan, President, Arya Shiksha Mandal & KMV Managing Committee presided over the ceremony to formally mark the onset of a new academic session. Dr. Sushma Chawla, Vice President, KMV Managing Committee, Alok Sondhi, General Secretary, KMV Managing Committee, members of the college management namely Sushila Bhagat, Neeru Kapoor and Anuradha Sondhi, Dr. Satpal Gupta were also present on this occasion. The proceedings of the function commenced with an invocation to the Goddess of Learning –Maa Saraswati to seek her blessings for new entrants 
of this session. 

Welcoming the Chief Guest of the day, Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi read out the detailed Annual Report of the college’s outstanding achievements in various fields-academics, co academics, sports, cultural activities, Research etc. Imbued with a sense of pride, she apprised the eminent guests that KMV is the first women institution in Punjab to earn the coveted status of Autonomous institution- a prestigious position that bestows the college the freedom to bring out academic reforms for the progression of young India. The Autonomous Status of KMV has been functionally effective and successful with the introduction of as many as 28 new age programmes in sync with New Education Policy( NEP 2020), out of which 4 being the recent ones granted to DDU Kaushal Kendra under MHRD, New Delhi. Today, Kanya Maha Vidyalaya stands tall as No. 1 college of Punjab, awarded with top rankings among best colleges in India by prestigious magazines namely, India Today, Outlook and Times of India along with Times Achiever Award winner for Excellence in Progressive Education recently. Embellished with 4.5 stars for Institution’s Innovative Cell by Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell, Govt. of India, the Institution has earned its place among the top-notch colleges that are synonymous with Excellence and Progressive Education in India. The college has also been awarded with 35 Intellectual Property Rights by Govt. of India. Sh. Chander Mohan ji, reaffirmed his faith in the immense potential and monumental will of the KMV scholars, mentoring skills of the faculty and futuristic vision of the college Principal that are taking KMV to enviable  heights. He urged the young scholars to dedicate themselves to acquire knowledge as an indispensable asset that benefits in every field of life. Meritorious achievements of both scholars and faculty in multifarious areas  like Scholastics, Research Publications and IPRs were lauded. The event also witnessed the release of a book named The Literary Contours by the PG Dept. of English, a compilation of research articles by contributors from all over Punjab. 

Congratulating the college authorities and students on creating benchmarks consistently, the chief guest Vishesh Sarangal expressed his deep sense of honour for KMV that stands tall as an emblem of perfect amalgam of tradition and modernity. He articulated the need to emulate the ethos and ecosystem of KMV that has carved an indelible mark on educational landscape with its excellence by earning the trust of generations and empowering them to reach top echelons of professional fields all across the globe. Since overuse of social media is posing a threat to ‘Ideation’, today’s youth must work judiciously on their strengths and eliminate weaknesses by imbibing the best ethical and moral qualities through their education and explore limitless possibilities that life has to offer. A formal vote of thanks was extended by Sh. Alok Sondhi. In his motivational message, he exhorted scholars to dream big, set goals, be passionate -the qualities that are key not only to success but also help in surmounting adversities with positive attitude in life. 

Principal lauded the efforts of Dr Madhumeet, Head, PG Department of English, Dr Manju Sahni, Head, PG Department of Chemistry & Dr Reena Sharma for successfully organising the function.
