KMV organises awareness program on Intellectual Property Rights Awareness in collaboration with Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell (MIC), Government of India
Jalandhar, May 6, 2022: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organised an online event on Intellectual Property Rights Awareness. Department of Science of KMV & Institution Innovation council (KMV-IIC) in collaboration with Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell (MIC), AICTE, Department of promotion of industry and internal trade, Indian Patent Office (IPO) organised an online talk on IP rights under National IP Awareness Mission event program.
The program was organised under the Kalam Program for Intellectual Property Literacy and Awareness Campaign (KAPILA). Ms. Shally Choudhary, Examiner of Patents, Indian Patent Office, Delhi was the resource person for the session. Ms. Choudhary gave introduction to concept of intellectual property rights and mentioned various types of intellectual property rights- Patents, Designs, Trademark, Copyright, Semiconductor integrated circuit layout designs (SICLD) & Geographical Indications. She also gave detailed information about technical details, filing procedure along with fees to be paid, time line and time period of protection. She told that there is 80% fee reduction for educational institutes for IPR filing since Sept 2021. She also emphasised on the fact that the Intellectual property rights are territorial rights, it’s important to first to protect and then publish. She also mentioned about career opportunities available in field of IPRs-Patent examiner and Patent agents.
Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi extended her gratitude towards the resource person and asserted the importance of innovation and IPRs in today’s world. She averred that the present event will act as a platform for the students to be aware about various types of IPRs. She further maintained that KMV is striving ceaselessly to maintain its standards of excellence by fostering an environment of endless opportunities and inculcating the spirit of creativity and innovation in the students. Principal lauded the efforts of Dr Neetu Chopra, Vice President, KMV- IIC and other team members for successfully organising the event.
