Jalandhar, October 30, 2023: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) PG Department of Computer Science & Applications under the aegis of Computer Club organised an expert talk on the topic of “Demystifying AI, ML and Data Science: An Interconnected Journey”. 

The talk was delivered by Prof. Sarbjeet Singh, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, UIET, Punjab University Chandigarh. Prof. Sarbjeet Singh commenced his talk by emphasizing on the exponential growth of data in modern era & explained that the world has entered in a new cycle of revolution and this revolution is led by AI and its associated sub-branches. He focused on the Ecosystem Technology Stack of AI that includes various branches like Data Science, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, Speech Recognition and synthesis, Computer Vision and Robotics. The goal of AI is to make a machine that can have a cognitive thinking and can imitate the thinking pattern of human being. He made students aware about different AI tools like Tech-o-Talk, ChatGPT and Dall-E for performing different tasks related to AI. He guided students about the situations in which AI can be applied & also emphasized on the fact that AI should only be used in the problem domain where explicit algorithm is not available or if available and it’s not practically feasible or lacks good performance. He acquainted students with various real world scenarios where AI can be applied such as healthcare, agriculture, government policies, banking and finance, science and engineering and various other areas. Towards the end, he explained the process of machine learning by giving details of different involved stages & also stressed on requirement of ethics and regulatory bodies in coming years to ensure AI is used to serve the mankind. During the end of the session, students asked their queries about the future challenges of AI and their possible solutions to which the resource-person effectively replied to. 

Principal applauded the efforts of Dr. Suman Khurana, Head, PG Department of Computer Science & Applications and Dr. Ravi Khurana, Incharge Computer Club for conducting an informative session and encouraged students to attend such sessions for their overall development.
