KMV organises expert talk on Role of Emerging Technologies in Smart Education

Jalandhar, August 10, 2024: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) PG Department of Computer Science & Applications under the aegis of Computer Club organized an expert talk on the topic of “Role of Emerging Technologies in Smart Education”. 
The talk was delivered by Dr. Prabhdeep Singh, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, GERA - Graphic Era, Deemed to be University, Dehradun virtually. Dr. Prabhdeep begins the talk by emphasizing on the importance of smart education. He illustrates with examples that what are the constituents of smart education. He enlisted various technologies that suits the need of smart education from the student’s perspective & told the students that the process of smart education involves use of tools and technologies for attaining feedback of students regarding various aspects and evaluating the performance of students on the basis of the feedback received. He asserted that the main objective of smart education is improved learning among students through constructive feedback that helps in making predictions as well as giving recommendations for certain actions that are need to be carried out. After that the speaker provided the details of four new age technologies and how these technologies help in making education smart. These technologies are IoT, Cloud Computing and Big Data, Machine Learning and Fog Computing. He acquainted students with various real world scenarios in which these smart technologies can be applied & advised students to make small scale demo projects for various real world problems in the college or university campus with the use of minimal equipment. Towards the end, he explained with an example how these four technologies are interconnected and how data flows among the layers of these technologies. A total of 168 students attended the session with full zeal and enthusiasm. After the end of the session, students asked their queries about the projects that they can take on the topic of IoT, ML or cloud computing in economical and secure manner to which the resource-person effectively replied to their queries. 
Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi lauded the efforts of Dr. Suman Khurana, Head, PG Department of Computer Science & Applications and Dr. Ravi Khurana, Incharge Computer Club and motivated to conduct such sessions frequently in future.
