KMV organises international webinar on Psychology of Uncertainty
Jalandhar, February 24, 2022: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organised organised an International Webinar on the topic Psychology of Uncertainty. The webinar was organised by PG Department of Psychology.
The eminent resource person for the webinar was Dr. Marta Fulop from Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience and Psychology, Hungary and Research Centre of Natural Sciences and Faculty at Karoli Gasper University of the Reformed Church. Dr. Marta started off the webinar stating that there are different degrees of uncertainty and the degree people accept uncertainty depicts their tolerance level. She said that different levels of stress, anxiety and worry are caused by uncertainty in life. Adding to this, she highlighted the fact that higher uncertainty tolerance always leads to higher subjective well being and by planning or replanning, it is possible to control this phenomena of uncertainty. Dr. Marta also elaborated the important role of Media in causing uncertainty as there are opposing views in the same media communication. Also she explained that facts and opinions are mixed sometimes which causes greater levels of uncertainty. She also brought to limelight the role of brain physiology in cases of challenges and threat. Dr. Marta said that tolerance to uncertainty leads to two kinds of personalities i.e. warriors and worriers.
Principal Prof Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi expressed her gratitude to Dr. Marta and lauded the efforts of P.G.Department of Psychology for successfully organising the international webinar.
