Jalandhar, August 9, 2024: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organized Orientation/Induction Programme for the new students. The program aimed at introducing various aspects of autonomy and various innovative programs to the students. 

Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulated the newcomers on becoming part of the historic institution. She acquainted the new students with the rich legacy and glorious present of KMV. While addressing the students, Madam Principal averred that higher education is very important in one’s life, as it enables one to take decisions, realize one’s potential, develop one’s personally, shows the direction to find one’s goals and how to achieve goals. 

Principal further maintained that for the holistic growth of students it is essential that the students should take an active part in all the innovative and value added programs being offer on the campus. She also underscored the significant autonomy reforms implemented at KMV, designed to enhance academic freedom and foster a more dynamic and innovative learning environment. She elaborated on how these reforms including international credit system, skill component in every program, internal assessment and various examination reforms empower both faculty and students to tailor educational experiences to better meet the demands of a rapidly evolving global landscape. 

Principal also shared impressive statistics on the college’s placement records by acquainting the students about the international placements of KMVites in USA and other countries at a very high pay packages, showcasing KMV’s commitment to student success beyond the classroom. She highlighted the strong partnerships with industry leaders and the robust support system in place to prepare students for a variety of career paths. 

Dr. Madhumeet (Dean, Student Welfare) through her presentation ‘Know your KMV’ gave detailed information about the KMV legacy, the vision of KMV, the facilities available for students, scholarships on campus placements, infrastructure, showing student support system, value added programs being offered on the campus and the advantages of gaining autonomy. All these programmes are designed with the holistic development and growth of students in  mind. Among other Student Development Programmes we have Foreign Languages taught by Foreign Teachers. Counseling(Career and General Counseling) is offered throughout the year to the students. 

Dr Pardeep Arora acquainted everyone about the Centre for Competitive Exams of KMV that prepare students for IAS, PCS, Bank PO, UGC, Defense Services etc. He also shed light on the Institute of IELTS at KMV that provide on-campus IELTS training to the desirous candidates. Centre for Leadership Development and Lifelong learning grooms the students and inculcates leadership qualities in them. 

Dr Rashmi Sharma shed light on KMV Entrepreneurial Development Centre that enhances the entrepreneurial qualities of the students by providing them adequate opportunities and organizing interactive sessions with inspiring entrepreneurs. She also explained various innovative programs run by KMV for the benefit of the students. NCC Cadet Vanshika also shared her experience of journey at KMV and motivated the students to pursue NCC in order to serve the nation. 

Principal lauded the efforts of Department of Student Welfare for this initiative which has been a regular feature at KMV for the past 15 years.
