KMV organises special drive against discrimination against women under directions of Ministry of Education, Government of India
Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) under the directions of Ministry of Education, Government of India conducted a special drive against discrimination against women.
Jalandhar, December 16, 2022: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) under the directions of Ministry of Education, Government of India conducted a special drive against discrimination against women. In this drive, a range activities were organised by KMV in order to spread awareness against discrimination against women by Women Study Centre and Department of Student Welfare. Under this series, a Pakhwada on discrimination against women was observed. An extension lecture was conducted by Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi.
During the lecture, Prof. Dwivedi sensitised the faculty members and students to about the cell against Sexual Harassment of Women in the college and also the different cells that are operating at city and district level.
Another awareness lecture of Abha Naagar, a renowned lawyer. It was organised to sensitise the faculty members and students about the legal rights and legal procedures for protection against sexual harassment of women. Another important activity was the Workshop on self-defence techniques by the experts so that students can learn to defend themselves in case of any emergency. The very purpose of this workshop is to build confidence among students and make them self reliant and confident. Internal Complaints Committee of KMV also conducted a special drive to review the pending cases in order to take appropriate action during which zero pendency was found of these cases at college level.
Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi that women need to be sensitised toward gender issues so that they may be able to raise their voice against sexual harassment.
