KMV organises special drive for picking Plastic and MLP (Multi Layer Plastic) waste in collaboration with MCJ
Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organised a special drive in the city for Plastic/MLP (Multi Layer Plastic) collection in collaboration with Municipal Cooperation, Jalandhar.
Jalandhar, July 25, 2024: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organised a special drive in the city for Plastic/MLP (Multi Layer Plastic) collection in collaboration with Municipal Cooperation, Jalandhar.
Under this drive students of fashion science department and NSS volunteers of KMV armed with bags, gloves and a strong sense of dedication collected the plastic /MLP waste from roadsides and chanted the slogans to encourage the public for making city plastic free. The areas covered under this drive were KMV college road, Garbage Dumping Sites, Aman Nagar, Pathankot Chowk and Doaba Chowk.
The drive was conducted with full zeal and enthusiasm in the presence of Suman and Amandeep (community facilitator from MCJ, Jalandhar), Deeraj and Vikrant Sidhu (Sanitary Inspector). The MCJ officers informed the student that the plastic waste collected during the drive would be used by MCJ for recycling purposes. The drive was followed by an extension lecture by Mrs Suman on the topic, ‘Waterborne Disease and their Prevention’. She apprised the students about illness such as diarrhoea, cholera, cryptosporidiosis, cyclosporiasis, Escherichia etc.
Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that KMV has always been taking various initiatives as KMV aims to contribute for the betterment of the society in various ways.
Principal lauded the efforts of Dr. Harpreet Kaur, Dr. Pardeep Arora, Ashima Sahni, Dr. Sonik Bhatia and Dr Iqbal Singh for successfully organizing the event.
