KMV organises workshop on Self Defence Techniques

Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) always strive to empower girls by enabling them to lead a decent life. With the aim of instilling confidence in the students and enabling them to cope with adverse situation, a workshop on Self Defence Techniques was organised under the value added Gender Sensitisation Program for the undergraduate students of semester III running under the aegis of Women's Studies Centre.

Jalandhar, November 6, 2024: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) always strive to empower girls by enabling them to lead a decent life. With the aim of instilling confidence in the students and enabling them to cope with adverse situation, a workshop on Self Defence Techniques was organised under the value added Gender Sensitisation Program for the undergraduate students of semester III running under the aegis of Women's Studies Centre. 

Sunil Kumar, International Karate Player was the resource person for this workshop. He started the session with some warm-up exercises, explaining  the techniques that one must adopt to defend oneself if attacked by any predator. He demonstrated, along with his assistant, how one should shove off the attacker and safeguard oneself of attack from any position. He made the students stand in rows, maintaining distance, and divided them into 2 teams – A and B – A team being the predator, B the victim and taught them the techniques of self defence. 

Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi, Director, Centre for Women's Studies encouraged the students to take active part in such important events. She also lauded the efforts of Amarpreet Khurana Coordinator, Women Studies Centre and her team for the successful organisation of this workshop.
