KMV participates in national workshop held in Mumbai
The topic of workshop was autonomous colleges the road ahead
Jalandhar: Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi, Principal, Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the Heritage & Autonomous institution, Seat of Women Empowerment, Ranked No.1 College in India by India Today Ranking (Various Categories) participated in a Workshop held at B.K. Birla College of Arts, Science & Commerce (Autonomous), Kalyan, Mumbai where reputed 20 colleges of India were invited to make presentations and discuss the best practices, vision and suggestions for higher education.
Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi presented the vision and progressive reforms under the Autonomous system implemented at KMV for the Z-generation of the nation. The Conference was jointly held by B.K. Birla College (Autonomous), Kalyan and Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla. The Governor of Maharashtra Shri Bhagat Singh ji Koshyari and Principal Education Secretary, Mr. Gaurav Vijay participated and gave valuable inputs to set the future education road map for the institutions of higher education. Highly reputed institutions of India like St. Xaviers, St. Stephens, Stella Maria, Loyala College, Chennai also took part along with KMV in this Conference.
Principal Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi made a presentation titled “The Journey towards Excellence: Our Challenges and Strengths being an Autonomous Institution”. She brought forth the reforms introduced under the Autonomous system at KMV. Employability, overall holistic growth of students and character building being the focus. She threw light on various academic, innovative and student empowering and value-enhancing programs being successfully run by KMV. The highly appreciated reforms included Value-added Programs which are compulsory for all the students with each semester namely Foundation Program, Moral Education Program, Personality Development, Social Outreach, Gender Sensitization, Self Defense & Yoga and Problem Solving & Mental Ability. Various other programs are School of Communications (Spoken English), Student Mentoring Programme, School of Personality Development, Centre for Leadership Development & Lifelong Learning, Centre of Competitive Exams (IAS, PCS, Bank PO, UGC etc.), Centre of Research & Innovations, CA Foundation Course in collaboration with Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, KMV Entrepreneurial Development Centre, Counseling (Career & General Counseling), Institute of IELTS (by Guided Teachers), Foreign Languages taught by Foreign Teachers, Yoga & Self Defense Classes, Peace with Self & Happiness Program to strengthen the learning experiences of the students.
The Examination Reforms have been introduced for the just, transparent and fast assessment of students. Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi threw light on the road ahead which aims to strengthen reforms and establish excellence in teaching-learning programs, to introduce more relevant faculties to empower young women and also to introduce M.Phil and PhD programs to upgrade Research. Her presentation was richly applauded as it showcased the colossal contribution made by KMV in enhancing the quality of higher education through innovative and exemplary initiatives.
It is worth a mention here that the suggestions made during the Conference will be presented to the officials at UGC and MHRD which will eventually act as valuable direction for the higher education institutions.
