KMV providing futuristic education in sync with new education policy
Already implemented many reforms
Jalandhar: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya has welcomed New Education Policy 2020 introduced by Government of India. Principal Prof Dr Atima Sharma Dwivedi appreciated the major strategies of National Educational Policy 2020 which aims at giving emphasis on multidisciplinary courses and on no rigid separation among streams, giving more emphasis on promotion of vocational and technical education, providing multiple entry and exit in undergraduate courses, providing the promotion of research at undergraduate level in all disciplines & to give autonomy to more institutions.
Throwing more light on it, Principal Prof Dr Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that KMV is already best equipped with all the futuristic state of education in the wake of New Education Policy. Education at KMV already includes some prominent features of new education policy where students are getting various benefits. Under Autonomous status granted to KMV by UGC, college is independent to prepare own syllabi. And the syllabi are prepared by different departments of KMV by organising Board of Studies meet in which most up to date & rationalised syllabus is introduced so that the students should get education at par with the international standards. Moreover, at KMV we have already implemented Credit Based Education system in all B.Voc & M.Voc courses. Under the autonomous system, KMV gives much emphasis on the internal assessment of the students in which the students are assessed on regular basis throughout the year via class tests, assignments, project works & class attendance etc. And in order to promote the culture of research in the students, college provides them with Seed Money grant for research projects along with the teachers. Vocational Education has been one of the most important component of education in KMV.
KMV is successfully running the Skill Development courses under Deen Dyal Upadhayay Kaushal Kendra granted by Government of India. These various B.Voc. & M. Voc. programs aim at equipping the students with vocational and entrepreneurial skills. Presently, KMV is running seven B.Voc courses in Animation, Retail Management, Textile Design and Apparel Technology, Nutrition, Exercise and Health, Management & Secretarial Practices, Photography & Journalism, Beauty & Wellness and three M. Voc. courses in Animation & VFX, Retail Management, Textile Design & Apparel Technology. Moreover, the students of vocational education also have a choice for multiple exit in these courses. Students are also motivated to pursue Research Project based education whereby the students are doing projects under DBT Star status granted to KMV by Government of India. The students are doing project from first year of their undergraduate and also get chance to present their work at National and Internal level. In order to provide practical based & industry oriented education to the students, KMV gives much importance to the student internships and industrial trainings. Internships are a compulsory part of majority of programmes at KMV and its credit are also added in total credits of the student. KMV is also the only college that has introduced various new age Hons. Programmes namely B. Com(Honours), BA (Hons.) English, BSc Physics (Hons.) and BSc Maths (Hons.) for empowering women. KMV is also the only college to provide Value Added Programmes in each semester at undergraduate level to its students free of cost and the grades of these are also added to the final credits of the students.
