KMV successfully organises Annual Athletics Meet Trailblazer-2K24
Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organised the Annual Athletic Meet Trailblazer-2K24. At the outset, Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi welcomed the Chief Guest Sushil Kumar Rinku, Member of Parliament, Jalandhar and Guest of Honour Sajjan Singh Cheema, Arjuna Awardee and Former International Basketball Player.
Jalandhar, February 13, 2024: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organised the Annual Athletic Meet Trailblazer-2K24. At the outset, Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi welcomed the Chief Guest Sushil Kumar Rinku, Member of Parliament, Jalandhar and Guest of Honour Sajjan Singh Cheema, Arjuna Awardee and Former International Basketball Player.
After the unfurling of KMV Sports Flag, it was time for March Past by Volleyball, Handball, Softball, Kho Kho Athletes and NCC squad of the college. Squad teams were lead by players of national and international level as the display of discipline and team spirit was spectacular.
Addressing the gathering, Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi thanked Mr Sushil Kumar for his inspiring presence and blessings on the Athletic Meet. She congratulated all the sportswomen who had made their mark in the field of sports with their diligence and skill. She averred that sports is a prestigious human activity since the dawn of human civilisation and we cannot imagine the world without the sports. She also encouraged one and all to participate whole heartedly in the events of the day.
The Chief Guest Sushil Kumar Rinku addressing the eagerly listening young sportsperson said that the face of sports had seen a sea change in the recent years as women had entered the arena of sports with aplomb in the 21st century. He said that KMV is the pride of Punjab as it has been a torchbearer for women empowerment and education since its inception as the institution has been producing brilliant women leaders in the field of education and sports.
Rinku also announced a grant of rupees 10 lakhs on this occasion for the institution’s development.
On this occasion, all the winners of the various events and the coaches of different games were honoured by the Chief Guest. During the colourful progression of the day various events in the categories for players & non-players took place namely 100 metre & 200 metre race, Long jump, Sack race, needle and thread race, Shot put, 400 metre race for non-players. The other events for the faculty included Tug of War (Male & Female Staff) & Musical Chair. The winners for the various events were: In the non-players’ category of the 100-meter race, Lovpreet Kaur secured first place, followed by Ishav and Tanisha Kumari in second and third place, respectively. In the players’ category, Jaspreet Kaur came first, Sanjana Sharma second, and Devanshi third. In the three-legged race non-players category, Nidhi and Saloni secured first place, followed by Ravindra and Simran in second, and Parnit and Kritika in third. Additionally, in the 200-meter race non-players category, Lovpreet Kaur secured first place, followed by Tanisha Kumari in second, and Mehak in third. In the players’ category, Jaspreet secured first place, Nisha second and Devanshi third. The long jump event in the non-players’ category saw Preeti in first place, Sandeep in second, and Vritika in third, while in the players’ category, Diljeet secured first place, Dilpreet second, and Nisha third. In the needle and thread competition, Lovpreet Kaur secured first place, Preeti second, and Amisha third. Furthermore, in the 400-meter race organised for players, Jaspreet secured first place, Sanjana second, and Riya third. Additionally, in the 50-meter dash for female staff members, Amandeep Kaur secured first place, Satinder Kaur second, and Sarojini third. It’s worth mentioning that Lovpreet Kaur was selected as the Best Athlete in the non-players’ category, and Jaspreet Kaur in the players’ category.
