KMV successfully organises new series of alumni speaks- A series of inspirational talks
Dr. Smita Vasudeva, Clinical Psychologist addresses the students
Jalandhar: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya has initiated a series of Inspirational Talks: Alumni Speaks where the alumni of the various departments of the college are invited and they share their success stories with the students. The P.G. Department of Psychology conducted a session of Alumni Speaks in which Dr. Smita Vasudeva was invited as the guest speaker. Dr. Vasudeva completed her graduation from KMV in the year 2001 and then pursued her Masters and Ph. D from renowned universities of India. She has also undergone training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy from Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Pennsylvania, United States of America. She is a Clinical Psychologist and is a USA Certified CBT Practitioner with 18 years of clinical practice experience. The session commenced with an introduction to the Department of Psychology where the department’s MOU with Eotvos Lorand University, Budapest, Hungary was highlighted. It was highlighted that recently four P.G. students and one faculty of the department got Bilateral State Scholarships to attend Summer University Courses in Hungary. Dr. Vasudeva shared her wonderful experiences when she was a KMVite and also thanked the college for shaping her career. She briefly explained the scope of psychology to students and also motivated them. She also shared her valuable knowledge on one of the well-researched therapeutic approaches Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). In addition to this, the students were motivated to make the best use of the present and to identify their strengths, so that, they can excel in what they do. She explained various key-points through which one can make one’s life happy. The talk was followed by an interactive session with the students where the various queries of the students were satisfactorily answered by the speaker.
Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that KMV has empowered the women by giving them the required skills in every discipline so that they should become self reliant in this highly competitive world. She maintained that this type of webinar is very essential for the students as it gives them a very accurate information regarding the skills required to make a powerful career in the field of psychology. She lauded the efforts of PG Department of Psychology for successfully organising the talk.
