Jalandhar, October 11, 2024: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous), the premier institution of higher education, is going to host the prestigious 5-day INSPIRE (Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research) camp organised under the aegis of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India from October 14 to 19. 

Addressing the press conference, Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi, Principal, KMV averred that INSPIRE is a flagship program initiated by DST to promote and nurture young talents in the field of Science and Technology. The program aims to inspire and motivate students towards pursuing careers in scientific research and innovation. The selection of KMV as a host for 11th time for this esteemed event, since 2011, underscores the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and its significant contribution to the scientific community. With the intent to create top scientists, DST has kept it open for toppers. Top 1% students of Class X board 2023 exams who are currently pursuing science in XI & XII and have not attended a similar camp earlier are eligible to be a part of this prestigious INSPIRE program.  For Punjab State Education Board students - Minimum %age required is 94% in Matric exam, for C.B.S.E. students - Minimum CGPA required is A1(96.0%) in Matric exam & for I.C.S.E. students - Minimum %age required is 97.83% in Matric exam. The five-day camp will include lectures, interactions, Physics, Chemistry and Maths workshops, quiz competitions as well as explorations. It is very gratifying that students from all over Punjab including Amritsar, Talwara, Ludhiana will stand to gain from this camp. Shri Chander Mohan, President, Arya Shiksha Mandal and KMV Managing Committee has kindly conceded to grace the inaugural session as the Chief Guest on Oct. 14, 2024 at 10.00 a.m. Along with many noted scientists, worthy members of the management including Mr. Alok Sondhi, Dr. Sushma Chawla will grace the occasion.

The mentors for INSPIRE science camp are Academy Fellows, Bhatnagar Awardees and Scientists of international and national repute namely Dr. Anil Sharma, Principal Scientist and Head, ICAR-CPRS Jalandhar, Dr C. Nirmala, PU, Chandigarh, Dr Nadeem Mubarik, Head DNA fingerprinting Unit, Directorate of forensic science laboratory Jammu and Kashmir, Dr. Promila Pathak, Dr (Prof.) Harkrishan Lal Vasudeva (Past visiting Faculty), Dept of Mathematical Sciences, IISER, Mohali, Dr Savita Bhatnagar, Dept of Mathematics, Panjab University, Chandigarh, Dr Himendra Bharti, Panjabi University, Patiala, Dr Felix Bast, Central University, Bathinda, Dr Pratap Kumar Pati, GNDU, Amritsar, Dr Sodhi, Dr. Bakshi, Dr. Vandana Bhalla, Dr. Yogesh, Dr. Arvind, Dr. P.K. Ahulwalia,                                           Dr. Jaswinder & Dr. Saini. The camp will be a ground for healthy interaction between the mentors and the students through lectures related to scientific success stories and joys of innovation across all streams of science that in turn would stimulate their curiosity and attract them at an early age to pursue their career in science.The students will be given exposure as the invited fellows will interact with the students through lectures and personal interactive sessions in an exclusive set up in the camp.These sessions are designed to ignite the curiosity and passion for science among young minds. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on workshops and experiments, providing them with practical experience and a deeper understanding of scientific concepts. Students will be apprised with many research fields and research facilities available in top Indian scientific institutions. It is worth a mention here that KMV was the first college in this part of the region to organise the INSPIRE camp way back in 2011. This initiative of organising the first INSPIRE Camp has been inspiring many other educational institutions of the region and has motivated them to follow our lead and organise INSPIRE camps. 

Concluding, Prof. Dwivedi remarked that the inaugural session will be organised on October 14, 2024 at 10.30 a.m. in KMV Auditorium.
