KMV’s Animation and VFX Department
Implying innovative techniques
Jalandhar: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya always impart its students with technical skills, with special emphasis on value education and also train them to keep up the pace with the current technological advances. The Animation & VFX department of the institution was lauded by Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi for implying the innovative techniques of CG world namely VFX and 3D to create the virtual environment and 3D models of the dignitaries during the recently held Annual Prize Distribution Function. The 3D models of the dignitaries included Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice Chancellor, GNDU, Amritsar, Sh. Chander Mohan, President, Arya Shiksha Mandal, Sh. Alok Sondhi, General Secretary, KMV Managing Committee, Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi and the prize winners. In this series, a VFX shot was broadcasted in which Kamakshi Sharma who was declared the best student of the year was announced and called up on stage. In this shot, all the characters were created through VFX by roto, paint, and editing process to create real life like. The implementation of these techniques in itself is a huge task starting from the collection of the photographs to come up with virtual environment and the 3D models designed with the help of most sophisticated animation & VFX softwares. The addition of special effects makes the scene real like and the execution of par excellence by the strong technical team available at KMV makes it much impactful. This is possible due to the well-experienced and dedicated faculty of the department having years of experience in the industry and academia. The department also boasts of the state of the art infrastructure, dedicated 2d and 3d animation labs, latest equipment, i7 desktop systems, Cintiq tablets, Wacom bamboo tablets and licensed software. The institution also has tie-ups with Media and Entertainment Sector Skill Councils and leading industries of the animation field. With the help of these tie-ups, the students get real-time industry exposure through working on projects they need to complete during their internship which forms part of course curriculum.
Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that in addition to class room training and industry exposure students at KMV get ample opportunities to put into practice the skills they acquire when they participate and contribute to events organized at the institution. The chief guest and other dignitaries also appreciated efforts of animation department and congratulated KMV for providing futuristic education to the students.
